Client: Off-Grid Cabin Owner – Värmland, Sweden
Application: Residential backup & solar energy storage
Product Used: 24V 100Ah LiFePO₄ Battery Pack
System Capacity: 2.56 kWh
Installation Date: March 2025
Background
The client owns a small lakeside cabin in rural Sweden, where there is no access to the national grid. Their goal was to build a compact and reliable energy storage system powered by solar, to support:
-
Interior lighting
-
USB and AC appliance charging
-
12V water pump
-
Small DC refrigerator
After evaluating several battery types, they chose a 24V LiFePO₄ battery pack for its efficiency, longevity, and safety.
Solution Overview
We supplied a 24V 100Ah (2.56 kWh) LiFePO₄ battery pack with integrated BMS, paired with:
-
400W solar panel array
-
24V MPPT charge controller
-
1.2kW pure sine wave inverter
The 24V system offered a good balance between power output and lower current flow, reducing cable losses and improving overall system efficiency.
Performance & Benefits
- 1.2–3 days of backup power in cloudy weather
- Supports all essential cabin loads including LED lighting, laptop, router, and water pump
- Works efficiently in cold climates (down to -10°C with auto low-temp cut-off)
- Cycle life of 6,000+ at 80% DOD ensures 10+ years of use
- Maintenance-free and no acid spills or off-gassing, unlike lead-acid batteries
- Built-in BMS protection for over-voltage, over-current, and short circuit
Client Feedback
The 24V LiFePO₄ battery gave our cabin the freedom we were looking for. It charges quickly, runs quietly, and holds up great even in winter. I no longer worry about losing power during storms or overcast days.
