Project Background
Traditional golf carts are commonly powered by lead-acid batteries, which require frequent maintenance and have limited cycle life. As lithium battery technology becomes more mature, many users are looking to upgrade their golf carts to more efficient and reliable power solutions.
A customer from the United States contacted us to replace their existing lead-acid battery system with a lithium battery solution to improve performance and reduce maintenance costs.
Customer Requirements
- Direct replacement for 48V lead-acid battery system
- Longer battery lifespan
- Faster charging capability
- Maintenance-free operation
- Improved driving range
Our Solution
We recommended a 48V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery pack designed as a drop-in replacement for golf carts.
The battery system includes:
- Built-in Battery Management System (BMS)
- Overcharge, over-discharge, and short circuit protection
- High energy density for longer runtime
- Compact design compatible with existing battery compartment
Installation
The lithium battery pack was installed directly into the original battery compartment without major modifications. The system was connected to the existing controller and charger (with minor adjustments for lithium compatibility).
Results
After upgrading to the lithium battery system, the customer reported:
- Increased driving range
- Reduced battery weight
- Faster charging time
- No need for regular maintenance
- More stable performance during operation
Conclusion
Replacing lead-acid batteries with LiFePO4 lithium batteries is an effective way to improve golf cart performance, reduce maintenance costs, and extend battery life.
