The global energy transition has reached a major milestone, with renewable energy surpassing coal as the world’s largest source of electricity. Recent reports show that renewables now account for approximately 33.8% of global electricity generation, slightly exceeding coal.
Solar energy continues to lead growth, contributing the majority of new electricity demand worldwide. At the same time, the adoption of battery energy storage systems is increasing rapidly, helping balance renewable energy supply and improve grid reliability.
In Europe, utilities are accelerating investment in battery storage infrastructure. For example, Poland’s energy company Enea plans to significantly increase spending on renewable energy, including large-scale battery storage projects.
