The global transition toward renewable energy continues to accelerate as governments and international financial institutions invest in cleaner and more reliable power infrastructure.
Recently, the World Bank approved US$57 million in financing to support the expansion of Liberia's Mount Coffee Solar Park. The project will increase the solar park's capacity to 30 MW while adding a battery energy storage system to improve grid stability and electricity reliability.
The integration of battery energy storage is expected to help balance intermittent solar generation, store excess electricity during periods of high production, and supply power during peak demand or cloudy conditions. This approach improves the efficiency of renewable energy systems and supports long-term energy security.
As more countries invest in solar-plus-storage projects, lithium battery technologies—especially LiFePO4 battery systems—are becoming an essential part of modern power infrastructure. Their long cycle life, high safety standards, and reliable performance make them suitable for utility-scale energy storage applications.
